INFERTILITY

Infertility is the inability to become pregnant after one year of intercourse without contraception, involving a male and a female partner. There are many causes of infertility and the management is based on the cause. At Healthway hospital we provide a systematised and customised treatment plan to our patients and the resources are streamlined towards attaining best results.
Management may involve medical support, surgical interventions or mere counselling sessions. Healthway carries out IUI to assist pregnanacy in many cases. This means that at the time of ovulation, a fine catheter is inserted through the cervix into the uterus to place a sperm sample directly into the uterus. The sperm is washed in a fluid and the best specimens are selected. The woman may be given a low dose of ovary stimulating hormones. IUI is more commonly done when the man has a low sperm count, decreased sperm motility or when infertility does not have an identifiable cause. It can also help if a man has severe erectile dysfunction.
The department has a backup of radiodiagnostics as well as lab services which are crucial in the decision-making process.
